We are recruiting for a Senior Programme Quality and Assurance Adviser who will bring strong strategic thinking, humanitarian programming learning experience, and a spirit of collaboration to ActionAid UK as it delivers on its new five year Strategy- Together with women and girls.

 

The Humanitarian Policy and Practice team is a key delivery partner in ActionAid UK’s new strategy to promote a world where women and girls are valued, live free from violence, and can exercise their rights to promote their own economic empowerment, safety, equality and voice.

The team is comprised of members supporting financial resource mobilisation, grant/ contract management, programmatic innovation, research and learning towards this end.

The Senior Programme Quality and Assurance Adviser will lead contract management, relationship management, programme learning, cross programme / country coherence, risk management and compliance activities.

We are seeking a specialist who will bring strong strategic thinking, humanitarian programming learning experience, and a spirit of collaboration to ActionAid UK (AAUK) as it delivers on its new five year Strategy- Together with women and girls.

To succeed in this role, you must have experience of successfully managing funding in the humanitarian sector-and supporting the implementation of humanitarian programmes.

You must also have knowledge of key trends in policies, compliance and assurance practices of humanitarian donors that have implications for AA to sustain income and programme quality.  You should also bring an understanding of humanitarian accountability and standards.

You must also have a good understanding of humanitarian response, recovery and resilience work and women’s rights as they relate to humanitarian work.

Improving access to education is another facet of its mission. 59 million children, more than half of them girls, were out of school in 2013. ActionAid works with more than 5,000 schools across Africa, Asia and Latin America to help over a millions girls and boys get the free, quality education they are entitled to.

Women’s rights and gender equality informs all of ActionAid’s activities. The charity works with communities against female genital mutilation, gender-based violence and forced early marriage.

ActionAid also campaigns for tax justice, fairer wages and more effective aid which can tackle the roots causes of poverty. It estimates that poorer countries lose around $200 billion a year from tax dodging by companies.
