Based in Stratford

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done, and we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

In the UK we reach over 2 million children a year through our three core programmes: Rights Respecting Schools Award, Child Friendly Cities and Communities, and the Baby Friendly Initiative. These programmes span work in education, local authorities and hospital settings across all the UK nations. We also work to influence domestic policy and advocate for change in the UK.

We are currently recruiting a Research, Evaluation & Participation Manager to cover maternity leave. This role works to demonstrate the impact of our programmes in the UK and to provide research and evaluation expertise across the organisation. You will guide an evidence-based cycle in our work, pioneer new evaluation methodologies and innovative approaches in evidence gathering, and help us to communicate the value of our work to help support and sustain the change we create for children.

The role sits within the Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation function at Unicef UK, which brings together specialist skills and knowledge to help drive growth and success across the organisation.

To succeed, you will have substantial experience in research and evaluation for the charity, public or private sector, particularly working in a UK setting and ideally within education, local authorities or health settings. You will have experience of working with voluntary sector organisations on developing programmatic theories of change; monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) structures; and outcome frameworks. You will have experience of implementing and analysing different quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation techniques to assess impact for beneficiaries, and you will be comfortable delivering training on such techniques to a broad range of colleagues.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate their commitment to, and preferably experience of, working collaboratively with children and young people to deliver research and evaluation projects.

Act now and visit www.unicef.org.uk/jobs to apply online.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 17 September 2018.

Interview date: Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 September 2018.

This role will be based in Stratford (zone 2). From September 2018, our offices will be close to the new Crossrail station and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Stratford is also served by the Jubilee and Central Lines, DLR, London Overground, TFL Rail and National Rail services.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people, respecting and drawing on different perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a criminal records check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights. CVs  will not be accepted.

If you require support in completing the online form or an application form in an alternative format, please contact Supporter Care on 0300 330 5580 during office hours.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
