The University of St Andrews seeks an exceptional major gifts fundraiser for this very exciting position. The Head of Development, London & International, will operate at the very highest levels of donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, primarily in London and the South East, South East Asia, and the Middle East. S/he will be responsible for developing and building some of the University’s most important relationships with current and potential donors to secure significant philanthropic support for the University’s most critical needs.

It is an exciting time to join Scotland’s first university as it celebrates reaching its 600th Anniversary Campaign goal of £100 million and is planning the next phase of its fundraising, alongside the University’s new strategic plan to be launched in Autumn 2018. This major philanthropic campaign underpins this globally renowned University’s ambitions as a world-leading institution, contributing towards funding buildings, big ideas and impactful research, and scholarships to bring on the next generation of world-leading students and young academics.

Working closely with the Director of Development, Vice-Principal and Principal of the University, senior staff and key volunteers, you will join a leading development office.  Its approach to the structure of the Development team has also led the way in providing flexible and agile working for fundraising staff.  The Head of Development is based from home to be closer to the key London market and will be supported by dedicated staff in the St Andrews Development Office.

Candidates for this unique and exciting opportunity will have proven experience of managing relationships with individuals in a highly tailored way, and a track record of soliciting six-figure gifts for a range of projects.  S/he will be a creative and strategic thinker, and possess excellent communication skills with the energy and enthusiasm to work proactively, both internally and with alumni and friends across the world.  Above all, the post holder must be passionate about the role that philanthropy plays in supporting higher education for the benefit of society as a whole.
