An educational charity is seeking a Regional Science, Technology, Engeneering and Maths (STEM) Programme Coordinator to join their team based in London and Southern England. This is a part-time role (3 days per week) and is home-based with frequent travel.

The Regional Coordinator will support a joint venture to raise awareness of marine engineering in schools, to inspire young people to consider a career in STEM and to ensure greater access to mobile engineering training to sea cadets.

The post will play a key role in making training more accessible to young people and their understanding of how the skills they develop are aligned to Maritime Careers. It will also promote the charity's agenda and raise awareness. 

The Primary Purposes of the role are to:

  • Initiate and deliver STEM workshops and taster sessions in schools within your area of operation in accordance with the project plan and as directed by the STEM - Programme manager to achieve set KPI targets.
  • To initiate and build relationships with schools in your area of operation via the delivery of the STEM workshop.
  • To liaise with the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) area and district teams to coordinate the use of the ME Pods by volunteers for Sea Cadets Marine Engineering training.
  • To take responsibility for the upkeep of the Maritime Engeneering (ME) Pod and ME vehicle.
  • To work with the STEM Programme Manager to ensure delivery is of good quality, engaging and up to date and that effective feedback is provided.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver the STEM workshop and taster sessions within schools in line with the plan and agreed Key Performance Indicators
  • Support the STEM Programme Manager in developing the sessions in light of feedback to maintain relevance and maximise impact
  • Liaise with the STEM Programme Manger regarding maintenance, management and insurance of the Area Pod.
  • Liaise with the area and district teams to coordinate the use of the Area Pod for Sea Cadets marine engineering training.
  • Transport the Pod to units and district locations or coordinate collection as required for Sea Cadets marine engineering training.
  • Oversee the safe use, return and maintenance of the Pod and all contained equipment during and after all activities.
  • Liaise with schools to promote, coordinate and deliver marine engineering taster workshops for young people and promote Sea Cadets within schools
  • Transport the Pod to the necessary locations for school visits and public events.
  • Report regularly to the STEM Programme Manager on the use of the Pod for both Sea Cadets and schools activity against KPIs and critical success factors as agreed.


Skills and Experience required:

Professional teaching qualification, or educated to degree level or equivalent in youth work or education related subject

  • Experience of delivering training programmes
  • Experience of designing and developing training programmes that are capable of engaging a diverse range of participants
  • Experience of project planning and delivery, including monitoring and evaluation, and working to targets
  • Experience of representing and promoting organisations at public forums and meetings with internal and external stakeholders
