The Strategic Commissioning Division are seeking to appoint a Community Coordinator for 12 month FTC. The Community Coordinator post is for an initial 12 months, however the role is part of a long term programme of work and it is expected, subject to an annual review, it will continue for a longer period of time if there is still a need for the position.
The post holder will be expected to:
• Build an understanding of extremism threats to community
cohesion in Harrow to help shape work in this area.
• Identify individuals and community groups who are working to
build community cohesion and resilience in Harrow and
tackling the issue of extremism.
• Support community partners working to counter extremism
and build community cohesion in Harrow including
by helping to secure funding and support.
The post holder will develop understanding of the drivers,
prevalence and wider harms of extremism in Harrow
and the impact they have on community cohesion.
The post holder will use experience and knowledge to identify and build relationships with individuals and groups in Harrow who are doing important work to build stronger and more resilient communities and/or counter extremism.
The post holder will support individuals and groups in identifying what help they require to consolidate and expand their reach, including by signposting them to, and helping them submit high quality bids for, grants and in-kind support.
You will have a good understanding of what constitutes cohesion, violent and non-violent extremism. Knowledge of how extremism and threats to cohesion can manifest in communities, and the range of interventions that can create stronger communities.
You must demonstrate experience of community engagement, in particular, of working with community groups.
You will have strong communication skills, including the ability to sell ideas and concepts with the ability to articulate shared vision across a range of stakeholders and to negotiate effectively to achieve successful outcomes as well as the ability to produce high quality written material.
Security Clearance Requirements: SC. Appointment is subject to the person obtaining ﴾through the Home Office﴿ SC level clearance.
