Regular Giving Manager
Nottingham Trent University
£37,706 - £47,722

The Regular Giving Manager will be an essential member of the University’s Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team and play an integral part in the delivery of its mission and philanthropic income targets.

Reporting to the Head of Alumni Relations and Regular Giving and working closely with DAR and University colleagues, this is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing, dynamic and ambitious team at a Guardian Top 20 university, and be part of a ground-breaking campaign.

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and effective higher education institutions.

As we celebrate 175 years since our founding college first opened its doors in 1843, we look back on an exceptional year, having just climbed 18 places to become the 16th UK university in The Guardian University Guide 2019 – a league table that is based on ratings in the areas that matter the most to young people, such as student satisfaction and employment outcomes, and having been named both University of the Year 2017 by Times Higher Education and Modern University of the Year for 2018 by the Good University Guide.

Just recently, we were ranked 4th out of mainstream universities in England by student satisfaction, as part of the National Student Survey, collecting feedback from nearly 3 million students nationwide.

We also won a prestigious gold rating for our teaching excellence, sector-leading student analytics and social mobility work, continued to be one of the greenest universities globally, and our researchers received a number of prestigious accolades for their impactful and innovative work.

Increasingly, our research has a global impact, with 90% judged to be world-leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised. It drives innovation not only in our curriculum but also in the businesses, community organisations and public sector enterprises with which we partner.

Each year, the University works with around 30,000 students from more than 125 countries, and has links with many businesses and organisations worldwide, which enables it to be in the top ten UK universities for students taking year-long work placements. More than 94% of its students come from state schools and 25% come from households with an income of less than £15,000.

The University boosts the UK economy by more than £900 million a year and generates 10,500 jobs. NTU is also the 13th most popular UK university for undergraduate degree applications, with around five applications for every place available. 96% of our graduates are employed or in further study six months after leaving. Its alumni include CEOs of large global organisations, Turner Prize winners, international film directors, senior lawyers, TV presenters and politicians.

Our alumni, friends and partners have always played a critical role in realising our ambitions. As we embark on a major philanthropic campaign, and prepare to launch a new alumni and community engagement strategy, it is a particularly exciting time to be joining the Development and Alumni Relations team.

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent knowledge of marketing principles of targeting and segmentation, and substantial experience and expertise in planning and executing direct marketing campaigns in a fundraising environment.

They will be a strong team player working well both collaboratively and independently, whilst retaining a focus on achieving targets. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a proven ability to influence and communicate at the highest levels, in order to champion the University’s Philanthropic campaign.

Determination, creativity, excellent interpersonal skills and a passion and commitment to the aims and objectives of Nottingham Trent University are all prerequisites.

Company

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is a public university with nearly 27,000 students studying across three campuses in Nottingham. With roots going back 173 years, NTU converted to university status in 1992. It is the 17th largest university in the UK.

NTU was founded in 1843, originally as the Nottingham Government School of Design, before becoming a polytechnic in 1970 and a university 22 years later. It offers over 500 courses which are run across three campuses – City, Clifton and Brackenhurst – and administered by nine academic schools. NTU’s schools include the School of Architecture, the School of Art and Design, the School of Science and Technology, the School of Social Sciences, the Graduate School and the Nottingham Law School. There are also more than 70 research groups and a similar number of clubs and societies.

Since 2004, NTU has invested £350m into its campuses, equipment and staff and plans to spend a further £130m on the campuses over the next six years. According to the 2013 National Student Survey, 91% of NTU’s students would recommend studying there. Each campus has dedicated accommodation, a Students' Union building, shops, bars, cafes, access to sports facilities, a purpose-built library, lecture theatres and computer rooms.

The university has strong links with business. According to the latest ‘Destination of Leavers from Higher Education’ survey, 93% of NTU’s undergraduates were in employment or further study six months after graduating. NTU’s Research Grant Capture Team offer expertise to help businesses gain funding from the EU, Innovate UK and charities and trusts.

Under NTU’s Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, graduates manage technologically innovative projects for business of all types and sizes, as well as public and third sector organisations. Project last from one to three years and cost, averagely, £130,000. The graduate is employed by the University but based full-time in the organisation. Funding is up to 50% for large companies, or 67% for SMEs.

Nottingham Trent University has been called the “most environmentally friendly university” in the country by the Guardian newspaper. And, in 2009, NTU was also named the most environmentally friendly University in the UK, this time by the People & Planet University League.

Jobs at NTU include technician, secretary, lecturer, IT researcher, finance, HR, marketing and administrative professional positions. Staff benefits include 28 to 40 days’ holiday a year.
