The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity providing adventure based outdoor learning opportunities for young people, raising over £5m to predominantly support the cost of bursary places for underprivileged young people.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Achieve corporate fundraising income targets from a portfolio of corporate partner accounts, existing and new.

Devise and implement creative profitable fundraising opportunities with Corporate partners, increasing partnership value and company engagement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Be instrumental in developing profitable long term partnerships with corporate supporters that both raise significant funds, and deliver on The Trust’s wider strategic objectives (see The Mountains are Calling, www.outwardbound.org.uk)

The post holder will report to the Corporate Partnership’s Team Lead.

Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following:

Account management

  • Manage a portfolio of Corporate accounts, achieving the specified income targets and actively work to maximise their value - developing creative, strategic programmes of support

  • Liaise with a range of corporate contacts and confidently develop relationships at all levels

  • Ensure effective running of corporate sponsored programmes– according to the criteria

    agreed by the supporter and The Outward Bound Trust

  • Liaise with Corporate Partnership Team Lead, Head of Corporate Fundraising other

    Account Managers and colleagues across the wider Trust to develop a detailed, tailored

    and effective donor journey for a portfolio of accounts

  • Prepare high quality presentations, proposals, plans, project and account status reports as

    required by Corporate Partnerships Team Lead/Head of Corporate Fundraising

  • Promote The Trust’s events, campaigns, sponsorship, payroll giving and volunteering to

    partners, and keep up to date with developments in both the Corporate and Charity Sector

  • Monitor income and expenditure/resources for all accounts

    Work with others

  • Establish and build effective and productive relationships within the Corporate Partnerships Team and across The Trust (Marketing Team, Education Team, Individuals and Events fundraising colleagues to meet partner and campaign needs)

  • Work closely with the Corporate Team Lead and Head of Corporate Fundraising to inform and deliver the Corporate Partnerships Strategy/support with New Business/Events where appropriate.

  • Provide administrative assistance to Corporate Partnerships Team where appropriate or required

General

  • Raise awareness of The Trust’s work with young people in the great outdoors

  • Support and work within the framework of the Fundraising Strategy positively at all times

    and support at all key fundraising events

  • Represent the Corporate Partnerships team as required

  • Regularly travel to meetings across the UK including overnight stays where necessary, and

    facilitate hosting opportunities for all accounts at our residential centres as part of

    employee engagement activities

  • Any other duties as may be required, including but not limited to attending events/

    functions outside of normal office hours

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience and proven success in corporate fundraising including Account Management and Account Development, or equivalent experience of Account
    Management and Account Development in commercial sector [E]

  • Proven success in maximising the value of existing donor relationships [E]

  • Experience in managing multi-functional projects [E]

  • Substantial experience in client facing development roles [E]

    Knowledge, Training and Qualifications

    • Computer literate - good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to use databases for recording and reporting [E]

    • Experience of working with CRM databases [D]

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent [D]

      Skills and Personal Attributes

      • Proven team player, willing to accept additional responsibility, show initiative, and proactively work to exceed targets [E]

      • Diplomatic and persuasive, able to build objective lines of argument/rationales for action and present viewpoints articulately [E]

      • Great organisational skills to manage a varied and pressurised workload, while focusing on the "Big Picture" [E]
