We are looking for a Partnerships and Philanthropy Fundraising Lead to join our team, playing a key role in our ambitious growth plan for the Start Network – we are aiming to increase current turnover in line with our plan to expand the Network.

The Start Network is made up of 42 aid agency members across five continents, ranging from large international organisations to national NGOs. Our aim is to deliver more effective emergency aid, harnessing the power and knowledge of the network to make faster and better decisions to help people affected by crises. We advocate radical change in the system so that the world can deal better with the humanitarian challenges of today, and of the future.

Our work focuses on three areas to change the system:

  • Localisation: We believe a more balanced system, that shifts power to those closest to the front line will generate more effective and appropriate responses for people affected by crises.
  • New forms of financing: We believe that by understanding the risks we face and providing fast, early, and dependable funding, we can: 1) help communities to become better prepared and more resilient to crises, 2) help civil society organisations be more effective, and 3) we can mobilise new resources for humanitarian action
  • Collective innovation: We believe that new ways of working are needed to tackle the challenges we face. By innovating collectively, we can share expertise, insights and perspectives to shape a more effective humanitarian system.

The Start Network is currently hosted by Save the Children (StC) UK on behalf of all member agencies and is working towards independent status in 2018, spinning off what will become the Start Platform.  This role will be hired into Save the Children and then transfer to the Platform at the point of independence.

As Partnerships and Philanthropy Fundraising Lead you will be responsible for developing, cultivating and converting new donor relationships as well as being responsible for identifying and shaping the portfolio of donors in line with Start Network’s vision. You will also lead on the development, review and implementation of the Start Network Fundraising Strategy. In addition you will:

  • Lead fundraising related member engagement for the Start Network
  • Diversify funding sources including non-traditional donors to support innovative global scale humanitarian financing mechanisms
  • Drive the culture of fundraising within the Team, and support their fundraising effots
  • Expand the organisations income in line with Network Development Strategy to ensure network growth.

To be successful you will have solid experience in fundraising and working on Fundraising and Partnerships. As well as a proven ability to generate multimillion income for non-profit or other organisations, you will be an effective leader who can enthuse the team and take initiative. In addition you will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of the aid sector and trends in global philanthropy
  • A proven ability to drive a strategic agenda and to apply this to the Start Network
  • Experience of product development appropriate for fundraising, and promoting products and services
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with the confidence to work with people at all levels of seniority and from different backgrounds.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

If you share our belief in the power of children, join the fight. It takes relentless determination, creativity and a real commitment to real change. Because every child should be able to make their mark on their world, and help to build a better future. We look forward to hearing from you.

Company

We're the world's independent children's charity. We're outraged that millions of children are still denied proper healthcare, food, education and protection. We're working flat out to get every child their rights and we're determined to make further, faster changes. How many? How fast? It's up to you.

We're working flat-out to right the fundamental wrongs that affect children.

Too many children are still dying because they haven't got enough food or because they can't get treatment for simple illnesses. Millions aren't getting an education and are being exploited and abused. This is not good enough.

We're changing this, partly by working directly with children, and partly by using our experience and influence to persuade governments and others who are responsible for children to do the right thing by them.

We seek out the most marginalised children, wherever they are in the world, so that means we work in a really broad range of countries, from fragile states like Afghanistan, to developed countries like here in the UK. We work closely with our colleagues in the International Save the Children Alliance, both in our programmes with children and in our international campaigns and advocacy work.

We have high ambitions for what's achievable for children - we aim to inspire dramatic change for children and to involve them in creating that change. We'd like you to get involved too.
