Become a Trustee of the Naval Service Sports Charity

The Naval Service Sports Charity supports the sporting activities of serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel.

It is a subsidiary charity of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

The Charity’s funds, which come from personal contributions through payroll giving, investments and other charitable donations are distributed as annual grants to support the running costs of Naval Service Sports Associations, sports development in the Naval Regions, coaching fees and support to talented athletes.

The Charity owns a 96 bed Naval Service Sports Accommodation facility and employs 6 staff at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth.

The Charity is run by a Board of 9 Trustees, 4 of whom are currently serving members of the Royal Navy and 5 of whom are not MoD employees but collectively have experience of HR, Employment Law and Charity Administration, Finance and Law.  The Board is looking for a Trustee who is not serving in the Naval Service but who is likely to have served, who has relevant experience as the Chair of a Charity, Board of Governors or similar voluntary organisation, and who has a keen interest in sport.

As a Trustee, the individual will help to ensure that the Charity is run efficiently and that the support given to Sport is fairly distributed across the Naval Service.  The majority of Trustee involvement centres on 3 Board Meetings a year held in Portsmouth, with opportunity for occasional inter-Board work with other Naval Charities.  Trustees are unpaid, but expenses can be reimbursed.
