We’re Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity – and we’re dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We believe that if we all act now, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live and live well.

The role

Social media is of huge importance to us here. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and our social media presence allows us to talk to people every day with breast cancer, and those affected by breast cancer. It helps us recruit people to our cause, create advocacy, and make a difference to people’s lives through our life-saving research, awareness raising activity, and campaigning.

This role is key to getting our brand message and values across to a wider audience, and help increase support for our charity’s work.

Working with the Social Media Engagement Manager, you will manage day-to-day community activity across our social media channels, contribute to the creation of engaging content, respond in a timely and empathetic fashion to supporter questions and comments, and help shape our content strategy using a variety of media and formats.

You will work very closely with all teams across the charity to support their activity, and make sure that we’re maximising the impact of any reach we achieve through social. You will also be responsible for maintaining our social media content plan and calendar, and help ensure that role and contribution of social media is considered across all other digital activity (and vice-versa). Reporting monthly on how well our social media performing is also a key part of this role.

About you

We are looking for someone who lives all things social, and is on top of what’s popular and emerging. You will also have great appreciation and ideas about how social can help increase brand awareness and levels of engagement. You will need to demonstrate experience of day-to-day social media management for a charity or brand.

You will have demonstrable experience using a variety of tools for social media management, monitoring, scheduling and reporting, with ideally familiarity with working in brand PR, communications and marketing, and be an organised and conscientious team player. Our social media is managed in-house, so intermediate Photoshop skills are a must, alongside copywriting skills and good grammar. If you have experience of creating or editing short-form video content, that’s a bonus.

It’s an exciting time to be with us as we implement new ways of creating and planning digital content to be more relevant and exciting for our audiences, with social media playing a key part in the future growth and influence of our charity. This is your opportunity to join us in supporting in these aims.
