At Cancer Research UK, influencing public policy is an integral part of our work and it's vital that we ensure cancer is high on the political agenda. As the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world, we are uniquely placed to work with politicians across the UK to keep cancer high on the political agenda

 

We're looking for a highly motivated individual to help keep cancer at the top of the political agenda in Wales. In this role you will…

  • Act as Cancer Research UK's primary contact in the Welsh Assembly
  • Manage a full assembly engagement programmes including servicing the Cross Party Group on Cancer, regularly brief elected members and officials and rolling AM contact programme including shop and/ or lab tours
  • Monitor Assembly activity and share intelligence
  • Manage our party conference attendance programme
  • Support influencing activity on policy priorities
  • Work with other third sector organisations in areas of mutual policy interest

What we're looking for

  • Experience of working with and briefing AMs and a good understanding of the Welsh Assembly
  • Proven experience of working in public affairs and a successful record of influencing the parliamentary and policy environment
  • Ability to flex style for different audiences both internal and external (including politicians, stakeholders, people with cancer and volunteers)
  • Exceptional organisational, written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to undertake frequent travel, often outside Wales
