Job Purpose

There has never been a more exciting time to join Age UK.

Last year, our Fundraising team raised over £50M; the most we’ve ever raised. We’re now investing in an ambition new Fundraising strategy to help us deeply engage more supporters and partners in our work, so that we can be there for more older people who need someone to turn to.

The newly created Fundraising Innovation Manager role is pivotal to our strategy, helping create and manage the innovation and new product development process and embed it into the very fabric of the Fundraising Division. This is an exciting new role for an individual who has thorough knowledge of fundraising products and the ability to manage and deliver new product development cycles to develop their career and use their passion and ambition to make a significant difference to older people in need of our support.

Main Responsibilities

  • To lead entire new fundraising product development cycles based on deep insight, analysis
  • To ensure that Age UK has into the marketplace for particular product opportunities including but not limited to: sporting, challenge, mass-participation, digital, local crowd-funding + more – either by conducting or commissioning research and insight
  • To support Fundraising Teams by ensuring a product development process is embedded and continuously refined and improved across the Division
  • To co-ordinate our needs around consumer insight into the particular new product development cycle theme – briefing agencies directly or working with the Senior Insight Manager
  • To analyse and evaluate qualitative and quantitative research from which new fundraising ideas can be generated
  • To run insight based ideas innovation sessions, followed by rigorous filtering of ideas to identify which concepts should go on to be validated
  • To determine how to validate fundraising products and propositions, identifying ways in
  • which to timely and cost-effectively test
  • To use insight and analysis to support the Fundraising Leadership Team in making business decisions, driven by a supporter-led approach
  • To ensure the capture, management and sharing of data in line with business and data management processes
  • To work with the Head of Fundraising Planning and Performance to help deliver excellence in planning, monitoring and evaluating across the Fundraising portfolio
  • To engage, influence and update stakeholders in our fundraising products, including the Fundraising Leadership team, and Heads of Departments across Brand, Comms, Media, Digital and Services
  • To proactively understand Age UK’s entire portfolio of fundraising products and to identify opportunities for maximising engagement and reducing product conflict
  • To present findings to senior stake holders and articulate the business case for your proposals

Experience

  • Successfully managing innovation or product development processes
  • Experience of using donor or consumer insight to create fundraising products
  • Demonstrable project-management experience with ability to plan and manage concurrent projects and activities
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing/competing priorities
  • Experience of working with creative agencies, research and insight agencies, and/or other partners to deliver projects and achieve results
  • Experience of challenging or supporting ideas with rational, logical and credible ideas/solutions

Skills & Knowledge

  • Credible understanding of the principles of direct marketing and consumer behaviours
  • Proven to be proactive and solutions focussed with a dynamic/creative approach to problem solving
  • Proven to work collaboratively and maintain diverse and positive people connections
  • Proven ability to confidently manage conflict to deliver objectives
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of direct marketing and the fundraising code of practice relating to consumer marketing

Additional Information

The role may require occasional travel to sites outside of London.
