Caseworker / Support Worker (Family Engagement) 

Our client is a National charity which support people affected by imprisonment. They work in prisons and communities across England and Wales to provide practical support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves. 

Position: Family Engagement Worker (Scale 2) 
Location: HMP Send (Commutable from Woking, Guildford, Epsom, Croydon, Horsham, Farnborough, Bracknell, Slough and surrounding areas) 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: £21,000 per annum

About the role: 

The service will provide support to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect and dignity. The service will also help ensure families are able to gain greater access to support and early help within their local community and services and families work together to decrease the chance of intergenerational crime. 

To deliver family services in HMP Send as part of a team, with a particular focus on family casework, but offering support to other aspects of the service including: visitor centre services; play and children’s services; social enterprise refreshment service; complex family casework and support for family groupwork interventions. To deputise for the Family Services Manager and provide cover for other roles in the team. 

About you: 

As a Family Engagement Worker, you will develop referral pathways for families prisoners and other professionals to access the service, as well as pathways into other relevant services as well as carry a caseload of family support work relating to prisoners, and carry out detailed assessments to inform further work with the family unit. 

You will also, advocate for families dealing with imprisonment, promoting the human rights and ensuring their needs are considered, and views are heard at all levels. In addition to contributing to case work meetings (case discussion, support and guidance) appropriately and share information to support sentence planning and risk management objectives. 

Lastly you will, work with and through the prison, and other case managers and key work staff as appropriate, to provide support to prisoners with regard to family issues, in accordance with prison’s rules and procedures regarding security, safeguarding and public protection, and to support the prison in developing applications, referral process and casework-based approaches.
