Job Details

A leading scientific membership society based in London is looking for a Website Content Editor.

The Website Content Editor will be an editorial lead on the new website. It will be responsible for ensuring content serves member needs and is of a first-class standard.

The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that the content is of a high quality and serves the members' needs well. A process of significant change is underway to make this happen and the Website Content Editor will be pivotal in driving this.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • To identify key pages on the new website and personalisation centre that need updating from a content perspective and make the necessary improvements.
  • To be an editorial lead on the new website. This will involve a combination of sourcing content from our subsidiary company, other third parties, content from departments within the organisation and creating original content where required.
  • Develop a content strategy to ensure all digital material serves members' needs and is best in class.
  • Produce and enforce simple to understand editorial guidelines to ensure best in class content.
  • Ensure accuracy of all digital content.
  • Use appropriate metrics to ensure continuous improvement of content (audience data) and respond to member and user demand.
  • Regularly update head of Marketing and Communications and other key stakeholders on progress and issues.
  • Ensure content is SEO-friendly
  • Work closely with the social media team to promote editorial content effectively

Experience:

  • Demonstrable evidence of delivering a great website or websites from an editorial content perspective
  • Experienced, meticulous digital editor.
  • Wide-ranging experience of good web practice, managing digital content and developing strategies for online content
  • Experience of using Google Analytics and other data sources to support an argument and to make day-to-day content
  • Experience of using Content Management Systems (CMS) and related software for uploading content to the web
  • Good knowledge of the technical aspects of web development and experience of working collaboratively with designers and developers
  • Good knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and how it impacts on written, image and video content Essential.
  • Experienced at producing social media-friendly content
