SERVE is a small charity which was founded in 1981 and provides a range of services to the elderly and adults with disabilities in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.

Employing some 55 full- and part-time staff as well as 105 volunteers, SERVE works closely with the NHS and local authorities to deliver opportunities for elderly and disabled people who wish to retain their independence by living in their own homes.

In 2010, SERVE’s trail-blazing Think Home First project won 2 major national health and social care awards, and in 2012 the then Prime Minister David Cameron presented SERVE with The Big Society Award. In 2018, SERVE was declared a Winner in the Weston Charity Awards from the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Since 2009, SERVE has had an effective fundraising programme with substantial sums raised from trusts and foundations, The National Lottery and statutory sources. More recently, this has been supplemented by a Community Fundraiser who has both raised the profile of SERVE in the community and also substantially increased the sums raised through community fundraising.

The Trustees of SERVE now wish to appoint a part-time Corporate and Major Gifts Fundraiser to access funding from corporate sources in SERVE’s operating area; and to increase both regular giving and one-off major gifts from existing and potential supporters.

The successful candidate will already have experience or proven formal training in at least one of these 2 areas. He/she will ideally have a qualification in fundraising from The Institute of Fundraising or other recognised professional fundraising body.

He/she will be expected to identify and secure new corporate and major donor fundraising relationships alongside existing donors; and maximise fundraising potential through raising awareness of SERVE’s work and the difference every individual and corporate supporter can make.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they:

·        Have a good understanding of fundraising techniques in general, and corporate and    major gifts fundraising in particular

·        Have excellent oral and written skills

·        Relate to people at the highest levels in business and also to those donating small sums on a regular basis

·        Meet tight deadlines and have good organisational skills

·        Work effectively with minimum supervision

·        Are highly motivated and a good team player.
