Innovation Project Manager (Delivery)

Islington, London

£30k - £34k per annum + excellent benefits

Fixed term contract - circa 6 months

Interviews commencing 10th August onwards

We have an exciting new opportunity for someone with a passion for innovation and a learning mindset to join CRUK's Information Innovation team and develop new and innovative ways of engaging people with health information.

The Information Innovation team takes a human-centred, test-and-learn approach to innovation. Our mission is to create and develop new ways to help everyone understand what they need to know about cancer and to take positive action for their health.

The team have a vacancy for an Innovation Manager (Delivery) to work as part of the Cancer Awareness Movement team, responsible for scaling and delivering Phase III of a new online community volunteering offer and managing its transition to business as usual.

What you will be doing

In this role you will…

  • Be an integral member of the Cancer Awareness Movement team, testing and scaling a new volunteering offer, and evaluating the cost and impact of the program. The project has been through an early stage test-and-learn process to validate its core proposition
  • Work collaboratively and applying test and learn and lean start-up principles to deliver Phase III of the project
  • Take a user-centric approach to innovation, involving the views and experiences of volunteers at the heart of products and services
  • Design and develop engaging content to inspire volunteers to talk with their friends and family about cancer prevention and screening
  • Manage volunteers online and ensure that new volunteers are recruited, trained, activated and retained through good relationship management, with a view to developing long-term stewardship for the programme
  • Explore the best ways to scale the product, considering a range of solutions and automation where appropriate
  • Build strong relationships with appropriate teams within CRUK and externally to influence stakeholders and inform the growth and scale of the project

Why this role?

The Cancer Awareness Movement project aims to develop a volunteering product which helps volunteers influence the behaviour of people around them through peer-to-peer interaction so they can contribute to reducing cancer deaths in communities with poor cancer outcomes. To date we have tested the key assumptions about the product with a small number of volunteers and have seen promising results in terms of impact in these communities. We are now moving on to test the product at scale to see if the offer appeals to a wider audience and if we can run the product at scale to achieve the greatest impact, so we need someone who can hit the ground running.

What we're looking for

To join us and make a difference you will…

  • Be user-led and have experience of understanding user needs and desires and then designing products / services that respond to these; have experience listening to user feedback and applying it to iterate product / service designs
  • Have experience of managing and delivering complex, cross-organisational projects, including effective day-to-day task management
  • Be experienced in content creation and management
  • Be a community leader or have experience with building and engaging online communities
  • Have a genuine interest in understanding and meeting health and patient information needs, particularly in communities with poor cancer outcomes
  • Have previous experience in Agile project delivery

If you're as ambitious as we are, join our collective force and enjoy an excellent career, as we save lives and add years.

Please submit your CV and a cover letter detailing your innovation experience.

At CRUK we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures and believe that a diverse workforce will help us to beat cancer sooner.

Please note, from 2019, our head office will be relocating from Islington to a new office space in Stratford, close to the Olympic Park.
