Job Details

The primary role of a Support Worker is to encourage and support adults with learning disabilities to participate in all activities that contribute to the quality of their lives. 

Working as part of a team, you will create a safe and caring environment for our client's service users that is geared towards personal development. You will promote respect, independence, choice and the inclusion of adults with learning disabilities. 

You will also be required to make a full and active contribution to your team by assisting with administrative tasks, and liaising and co-operating with all those involved in the support of their service users in a friendly and professional manner.

Despite these difficult financial times, their salaries are competitive with other local providers and your basic salary would be £20,155.20 pa (£10.20). 

Permanent staff would be expected to be available to fulfill at least one sleep in session per week if the service requires this at £35 per session which would equate to a minimum of £1820pa. If waking nights are required you would receive an enhancement of 15% for all hours worked on a waking night shift.Child Care Vouchers to a maximum of £243 per month are available through a salary sacrifice scheme which can save you up to £1,196pa in reduced tax and NI contributions. 

They provide contributory pension benefits through their partnership with NOW: Pensions Ltd, as part of their Automatic Enrolment obligations and you will be given full details once you start with them.

They also offers access to a free Employee Assistance Programme providing information and counselling services that can assist in dealing with a wide range of issues including family care & support, legal and tax information, debt counselling, as well as a wide range of other services. 
They have also introduced a Ride2Work bicycle loan scheme for staff who may wish to purchase a bike to get to work but find the costs prohibitive. You would be entitled to 28 days annual leave in a full leave year including bank/public holidays. 

You would work 152 hours over a 4 week period (equivalent to 38 hours per week) on a shift basis. Shifts are worked over a 24-hour rota covering a 7-day week and include week ends and bank holidays. Hours worked during sleep-ins where applicable are in addition to basic hours. Shift patterns are determined by the needs of the service, and no hours, including sleep-ins, are guaranteed Part Time staff would receive the same benefits on a pro rata basis. 

Anything Else I should be aware of? 
As you would be working with vulnerable people, all appointments are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check, satisfactory references, health screening and proof of your right to work in the UK. 
Confirmation in post is also subject to a six-month probationary / training period and to you meeting the Care Certificate Induction Standards for Learning Disabilities in that time.
