Support Worker

Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.
Position: Dementia Support Worker
Location: North East London
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Part time, 21 per week
Salary: £14,635.80 actual per annum
Closing date: 5pm on Thursday 16th August
Interview date: TBC
About the role:
As a part of their Dementia Advice Service, delivering on their groups Singing for the Brian and outreach work into the community, raising awareness.
You will provide one-to-one information, advice and sign-posting to people living with dementia and their family members / carers. You will be helping people to understand dementia, maintain their independence and prepare for the future.
You will offer this advice and information to your clients in a variety of ways, including through home visits, meeting at the Memory Clinic or in their offices, as well by phone, letter or email.
You will line manage volunteer/s and will get involved in some really rewarding community outreach work and delivering Dementia Friends Sessions.
You will be required to work in a team supporting other Dementia Advisors in their locality.
About you:
If you have an understanding of dementia and the needs of those affected by dementia, or you are keen to develop this knowledge, then they would love to hear from you. NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. You will be able to work well as part of a team and are passionate about improving the quality of life for people living with dementia.
You may be required to work independently in other locations within East London from time to time.
