Job Details
I am working on behalf of the Diocese of Westminster who is looking for a new Development Manger to join their Fundraising department on a permanent basis. This is a very exciting time to join the organisation as they have plans to grow their fundraised income quite significantly and are in a very strong position to do so.
The Development Manager will lead the Supporter Engagement programme and contribute to the overall Fundraising & Stewardship strategy. This post is responsible for giving supporters an excellent experience of supporting the Church, working with a strong team to enhance supporter journeys to maximise lifetime value and deliver significant income growth, to fund a wide range of projects and services around the Diocese.
Major duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of the major donor, trusts & foundations and corporate partnerships strategy to grow both restricted and unrestricted income from existing and new major funders
Lead the on-going development and implementation of planned giving drives and capital appeals to grow income in parishes and other projects across the Diocese
Plan and organise annual appeals, utilising direct marketing, community giving and major donor fundraising techniques, working with external suppliers as necessary to deliver income growth
Build legacy giving through effective legacy marketing and promotion, and legacy management for legacies we receive notification of, for individual parishes or the wider Diocese
Develop strong cases for support and package up the Diocese's work to engage donors
Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing and new major funders, using research, cultivation, face-to-face meetings, applications and reports
Increase major donor, trust & foundation and corporate income by making face-to-face asks personally and by supporting senior staff and trustees to do the same
Plan, manage and deliver a major annual fundraising dinner, as well as a number of smaller donor stewardship events, involving the Cardinal and other senior clergy as required
Ensure that all activity and contact with supporters is accurately reflected in the fundraising database at all times and reconcile income with the Finance team
Work closely with the Supporter Care team to develop and enhance supporter journeys
Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities against annual objectives, reporting on KPIs
Carry out other reasonable Supporter Engagement duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
To be considered you must hav the following experience:
Knowledge of and appreciation for the Catholic Church and its teachings
Experience of developing and implementing major donor and corporate fundraising strategies
Demonstrable track record of raising funds from major donors and companies
including securing gifts in excess of 100,000 and meeting income targets
Experience of soliciting gifts and delivering pitches face to face
Experience of identifying new prospects and developing relationships to secure income
Experience of producing inspiring and engaging copy for a range of donor communications
Strong presentation and communications skills with the confidence to deal with a range of stakeholders, senior staff and trustees
Proven ability to form good working relationships and to motivate and coordinate colleagues across the organisation
Experience of developing and organising a range of donor cultivation events or initiatives
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and work on own initiative
Experience of using CRM databases to maintain donor contact history and prepare management information
Proven ability to prepare, maintain and report on income and expenditure budgets
Understanding of GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice
