Fundraising and Communications Officer

The role will be based in the Charity’s offices in Hornchurch, Essex

The Organisation

Since 1939 WaveLength has been the leading charity in alleviating loneliness in those isolated from their communities through poor health, poor mental health or circumstance such as coming out of homelessness or fleeing domestic abuse.  WaveLength give media technology such as TVs, radios and tablets so no one is left in silence without a window to the world.

The last few years have been an exciting time as the charity has helped shape the national conversation around the dangers of loneliness, and developed its partnership work throughout the UK.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Fundraising and Communications Officer will help shape the organisation’s fundraising strategy and lead on its delivery, whilst continuing the development of the charity’s profile within the media, government organisations, and funding bodies.  Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Strengthening all donor relationships to maintain and develop funding streams;
  • Identifying potential new funders including developing a strategy around Corporate giving;
  • Developing and delivering the charity’s direct marketing strategy;
  • Overseeing the Charity’s public relations strategy including developing relations with journalists, and media companies;
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with the charity’s ambassadors, partner organisations and public supporters;
  • Managing publicity across all platforms including website and Social Media Aps.

Candidate Profile:

  • A track record in delivering significant income through strong relationship management;
  • Truly excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience in raising the profile of an organisation through engaging with journalists and media organisations;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Happy to be hands on and get involved in all areas of a small Charity.
