The FBA Board is seeking an experienced and inspirational arts executive to lead the next phase of this leading visual art charity’s development as Chief Executive.

The Federation of British Artists (FBA) has been promoting, encouraging and educating audiences about the study and practice of the fine and visual arts since 1961.  We operate Mall Galleries, a large, contemporary gallery space right in the centre of London on The Mall, London SW1.  Following a major programme of refurbishment and modernisation, the profile, reputation and financial resources of the FBA and Mall Galleries have grown significantly and our large, professionally staffed and well-equipped gallery spaces have established us as a major venue of choice for solo artist and group exhibitions, art fairs and events in central London.

We engage with a wide range of audiences through dozens of exciting exhibitions and events each year, including the annual exhibitions of the art societies that make up our charity, alongside external solo, group shows and art fairs. To complement this programme, we are proud to deliver an equally impressive programme of educational and other learning activities.

The FBA’s operations are diverse and complex and significant challenges lie ahead as the FBA continues to extend its reach as a major national visual arts charity.  As Chief Executive, you will have overall responsibility for delivering the commercial objectives and for meeting the charitable aims of the FBA and Mall Galleries, ensuring the long-term financial stability of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader in business and the arts, a good team leader able to harness the best from a highly competent, talented but diverse team.  You will also have experience in financial management and reporting.  You will have excellent presentation and communication skills and you will have experience driving through operational change.

Deadline for submissions is Monday 3 September 2018. Interviews will be held on Friday 28 September 2018.
