About the role:

The Programme Lead will develop and ensure the delivery of plans for walking and cycling are delivered to a high standard in localities and with communities. The postholder will ensure standards are built in at every level, specifically including behaviour change methodology and high-quality community engagement.

Responsibilities:

- Provide project management to support delivery of the programme, ensuring the relevant and key stakeholders are directly involved and engaged in the processes
- Coordinate and drive the delivery of project plans and locality plans, ensuring that commitments to early priorities are met and that key risks and dependencies are clearly understood
- Ensure the evaluation processes are embedded in project management, and realising benefits attributable to the programme, in the context of wide-ranging system changes
- Support the development of proposals for investment of time and/or money to support programme objectives, via the Transformation Fund and any other potential sources
- Ensure that good practice and ideas arising from the work of the programme is highlighted and shared effectively across the organisation and through the Local Delivery Pilot Programme nationally. They are one of 12 places that Sport England are trailing an innovative Local Delivery Pilot initiative that aims to support children and young people, people out of work and people aged 40-60 with health conditions to be more active.
- Support coordination and delivery of change that is in scope of the programme

About you:

- Educated to high level with relevant specialisms
- Trained practitioner in an industry recognised project or programme management methodology such as PRINCE 2, DSDM Agile Programme Management, Manchester Method
- Knowledge and experience of the public sector, system transformation and public-sector reform
- At least 3 years’ experience in programme or project management, and a proven personal track record of managing cross functional projects through to delivery
- An understanding of the background to and aims of current health transformation in GM
- Knowledge and experience of behaviour change methodology
- Knowledge of the impact of physical activity and inactivity on health and other outcomes
- Experience of financial and human resource management
- Demonstrable experience in complex stakeholder management and community engagement
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project with intermediate keyboard skills
- Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes desirable
