About the role:

The Programme Manager will establish and manage the systems for programme delivery and monitoring, to ensure the delivery of plans for walking and cycling in localities and with communities. The postholder will ensure programme standards are built in at every level, specifically including behaviour change methodology and high-quality community engagement.

Responsibilities:

- Provide excellent strategic and programme management and systems to support delivery of the programme and the requirements of the Programme Board
- Coordinate and drive the delivery of workstream plans and locality plans, ensuring that commitments to early priorities are met and that key risks and dependencies are clearly understood
- Drive programme delivery across the system by developing an effective programme management disciplines and progress monitoring reports that enable early spotting of variations, trigger support for partners and inform appropriate decision making
- Ensure the evaluation processes are embedded in programme management, and realising benefits attributable to the programme, in the context of wide-ranging system changes
- Support the development of proposals for investment of time and/or money to support programme objectives, via the Transformation Fund and any other potential sources
- Ensure that good practice and ideas arising from the work of the programme is highlighted and shared effectively across the organisation and through the Local Delivery Pilot Programme nationally. They are one of 12 places that Sport England are trailing an innovative Local Delivery Pilot initiative that aims to support children and young people, people out of work and people aged 40-60 with health conditions to be more active.
- Support coordination and delivery of change that is in scope of the programme

About you:

- Educated to high level with relevant specialisms
- Trained practitioner in an industry recognised programme management methodology such as PRINCE 2, DSDM Agile Programme Management, Manchester Method
- Knowledge and experience of the public sector at a senior level, system transformation and public-sector reform
- At least 4 years-experience in strategic, programme and project management, and a proven personal track record of managing cross functional programmes through to delivery
- An understanding of the background to and aims of current health transformation in GM
- Knowledge and experience of behaviour change methodology
- Knowledge of the impact of physical activity and inactivity on health and other outcomes
- Experience of financial and human resource management
- Demonstrable experience in complex stakeholder management and community engagement
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate on complex matters
- Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project with intermediate keyboard skills
