About the role: 

Achieving for Children is setting up its first children's home in Easter 2019 in the Teddington area. And this is a unique opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to join our organisation and be part of shaping our residential pathway from the very outset. As a Registered Manager-Children’s home for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for: 

  • To act as an Ofsted Registered Manager deliver services which are fully compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements particularly The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015.
  • Responsible for the effective development and delivery of high-quality residential services to children young people and their families which improve outcomes.   
  • Leadership and management of a team, ensuring that team members work effectively with children, young people, families and all internal and partner agency staff.  
  • To carry out their statutory duties as determined, principally in relevant childcare legislation, children’s homes regulations and standards.  
  • To ensure that all services are planned, and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects children’s rights in relation to services being provided  
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all child protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies.   

Within the overall context of:  

  • The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015 
  • Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation 
  • The Homes Statement of Purpose  
  • The Statement of Conduct and Behaviour with guidance for staff working in AFC residential homes

We have been up and running for four years, and in that time we have establishes a reputation as one of the leading children’s service providers in the country. We are one of the Department for education’s eight ‘Partners in Practice’ tasked with leading improvement across the sector  

About You 
As a Registered Manager -Children's Home you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points: 

  • You will need to have a track record of managing Good or Outstanding provision and developing skilled and caring staff teams that achieve great outcomes for children and young people.
  • You will  have experience of recruiting, inducting and devising training programmes for residential staff 
  • You will have extensive experience in working alongside social work teams and engaging families and partners in education, health and the police. 
  • You will be interested in clinically informed therapeutic interventions and how residential provision can support care interventions, fostering, family reunification and preparation for independence.  
  • You will work alongside senior managers to develop a sufficiency strategy for local residential provision as and the local authority are already committed to opening a second home in the London Borough of Kingston in the latter part of 2019
  • We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious residential manager who has a vision for creating that meets fully regulatory requirements whilst boldly taking the service forward.
