The Gurkha Welfare Trust is looking to recruit a Supporter Care and Database Assistant to join our Fundraising team for a one year, fixed-term contract to cover staff absence on a temporary assignment.  The main purpose of this role is to support the Database Manager to provide an excellent donation processing and supporter thanking service, including importing both one-off and batched income and responding to supporter queries.

This role's primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • To work under the supervision of the Database Manager to process supporter donations from a variety of income streams including cheques, credit and debit cards and postal orders in a timely manner, processing donations by batch.
  • To thank supporters for their gifts in a timely manner.
  • To record income budget codes for incoming donations and to liaise with the finance team and other relevant staff when required to reconcile income.
  •  To import electronically into the CRM database income from a variety of sources.
  • To respond to queries and questions from supporters by phone, email, letter and in person.
  • To act as the main point of contact with income processing organisations, Rapidata and CAF.
  • To work with the Database Manager to support other staff in their use of the fundraising database.
  • To ensure high standards of quality and consistency for all supporter data entry, enabling The Gurkha Welfare Trust to be compliant with the current Data Protection Act.
  • To undertake any other appropriate task as may be required by the Database Manager.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of data entry on CRM database systems in a supporter or customer care background
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to respond to queries from people at all levels
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act
  • Organised and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to be an advocate for the Trust by communicating its mission with empathy.
  • Experience of working in fundraising/charity environment and understanding of Gift Aid would be desirable.
