Do Good with Governance
Expert training for charity governance professionals.

ICSA: The Governance Institute is committed to the promotion of good governance across the third sector. As charities face greater scrutiny of their legal and regulatory responsibilities, ICSA is there to impart the skills and knowledge professionals need to make the right strategic choices and enable their organisations to thrive in a more complex operational environment.

The Charity Law and Governance Certificate is the only introductory-level qualification of its kind. It gives you an understanding of your legal and regulatory obligations and can help you to find effective solutions in meeting these and the responsibilities of your governing document. It also gives you the tools to help develop high standards of governance as laid out in the Charity Governance Code.

Level, scope and suitability
This Level 4 course provides an introduction to the legal and regulatory framework around charities in England and Wales, and how this affects charities in relation to issues such as generating income and managing assets.

If you work for a charity (regulated or unregulated), in a role such as company secretary, board clerk, head of governance, director, or other administrative roles, this course will help you understand the legal framework specific to the sector to help you ensure your organisation remains compliant while pursuing its aims.

Duration, mode and structure
The course requires around 200 hours’ study time over six to nine months. The course content is presented through webinars, interactive workshop sections and digital materials.
