Job Details

6 months’ maternity cover with possibility to extend

Combat Stress was established in 1919. We are the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For almost a century, we’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with trauma-related mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Today we provide UK-wide support to veterans from every service and every conflict, on the phone and online, in the community and at our treatment centres. We’re on a mission to raise awareness that invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. So, when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to take on the future.

An opportunity has arisen for interim maternity cover for the post of Trusts and Foundations Manager at Combat Stress, starting 1 October 2018. With demonstrable experience of raising funds from charitable trusts and foundations, you will be responsible for managing a successful income stream for the charity in order to achieve an ambitious team target in 2018/19. This is a pivotal time for Combat Stress with the launch of a transformative five-year strategy in 2017, offering opportunities to develop innovative project proposals. The advent of the charity’s centenary in 2019 offers exciting stewardship opportunities with a programme of events planned for the year.

You will be a well-organised individual with proven experience securing significant gifts and working to deadlines, in addition to budget management experience. With responsibility for a mature and large portfolio of trusts and foundations, you will find a comprehensive pipeline of proposals and reports in place. The role will include daily tasks such as liaising with clinical and finance teams to ensure successful development of project proposals and reports, monitoring performance, and line managing a motivated trusts and foundations team comprising a Senior Trusts & Foundations Officer and Trusts and Foundations Assistant.

What we offer
You will work within a charity that has a fantastic cause and committed follower base.

In addition, we offer the following benefits:

  • 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays p.a. pro-rata
  • pension scheme – contributions matched up to 10% p.a. pro-rata
  • childcare vouchers
  • discount shopping, healthcare and gym membership
  • free on-site parking or shuttle from Leatherhead Station
  • cycle to work scheme

Company

Combat Stress is a registered charity in the United Kingdom offering therapeutic and clinical community and residential treatment to former members of the British Armed Forces who are suffering from a range of mental health conditions; including post traumatic stress disorder.

Our aim is to treat veterans’ symptoms and improve their quality of life. We want to help veterans tackle their past and take on the future.

Veterans with complex mental health conditions need a specialist team made up of different mental health professionals to help them and we provide this. Our clinicians work closely with each other and the veteran to develop a treatment plan that best suits their needs.

We directly employ our own clinical staff to provide our highly specialised treatment to UK veterans at our centres in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our treatment is available online, in the community, through outpatient appointments and also on a residential basis when required.

Our Mission

Our mission is to deliver specialist treatment for veterans with complex mental health needs, whilst supporting their families and network, to help them tackle the past and take on their future.

Our vision is for all former servicemen and women with complex mental health problems to live full and meaningful lives.

Our Values

Together: We are united in purpose, collaborative in action.

Focused: We're clear about what we will and won't do to deliver the best outcomes.

Bold: We'll do and say what we must to achieve our organisation's vision.

Personal: We respect diversity and appreciate everyone's individual needs and talents.
