Year Here is a platform for young professionals who want to build smart responses to social problems.

Over one year our Fellows learn from, and design with, people at the frontline of inequality – in care homes, homeless hostels and youth services across London – and go on to found some of the most promising social impact startups in the country.

Since launching at 10 Downing Street in 2013, we’ve worked with 128 aspiring social entrepreneurs and launched award-winning social ventures like Cracked It, Birdsong and Chatterbox.

We’re a deeply committed team of 8 surrounded by a faculty of 75 social innovation experts – the great and the good of Britain’s social impact world. We care about being first-rate professionals, learning with restless vigour and having fun along the way.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Programme Manager, you’ll be nurturing the most promising early career professionals in the UK towards entrepreneurship that genuinely makes a difference. 

This role sits at the heart of our Fellows’ learning experiences – you’ll be there at every step of the journey. You’ll work 1:1 with the Fellows to help each and every one flourish, graft behind the scenes to make sure we pull off each programme component without a hitch, and produce events that inspire the cohort to do their best work.

Working closely with our Head of Programme and Partnerships, you’ll think through how to bring our curriculum to life in a way that is meaningful and truly transformative for our Fellows.

This is a full time role.

Your responsibilities will be to:

Lead a small team of exceptional people to deliver our programme.
You will line manage two Alumni Programme Producers, people we’ve handpicked from our course to deliver the course. You’ll show your talent for leading others, investing in individuals and helping them deliver a quality experience for Fellows.

Manage the moving parts of the course to create a seamless experience.
You’ll be in the lead in producing Year Here – from sourcing imaginative venues across London to getting learning materials to the right place at the right time. You'll make facilitation a breeze for our faculty and they’ll love working with us as a result.

Produce a series of magical events throughout the year.
Our events – from the high energy Crowdbacker to the intimate Off The Record and the exploratory WildCamp – are often the highlights of our year. You’ll produce them, thinking carefully about how to make each one slick, surprising and memorable.

Be present at most learning sessions – either facilitating yourself or supporting one of our 70-strong faculty.
You’ll regularly facilitate our cohorts of 15-20 aspiring social entrepreneurs. You’ll also bring continuity to our Fellows’ learning experience, making connections between curriculum content and the real world application that the course demands. 

Coach Fellows through their social innovation journeys.
You will coach our Fellows through the programme – making sure they have a real impact, learn lots and take tangible steps towards the career they want. You’ll dive deep into each Fellow’s individual experience to help them consider how they respond to the many challenges that the course throws up.  

Be the first port of call for our Fellows.
Much of the guidance and encouragement of our Fellows will come from you – whether that’s in-person during a Fireside Friday session or in a quick message on Slack. You’ll be the font of knowledge that Fellows turn to in a moment of uncertainty.

Maintain the behind-the-scenes systems and databases that make the programme feel like a well-oiled machine.
We’re a small team but your mastery of our systems should make the Fellows feel like their time with us is managed effortlessly. We want learning to continue beyond each session, so you’ll make sure our online learning resources are brilliantly intuitive.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a diligent, confident project manager.
You’ve managed projects, events or programmes before. Budgets and gantt charts are familiar territory for you.

You love producing extraordinary events and experiences.
Whether it’s dinner parties at home or professional networking events, you’ve run events before. You enjoy thinking through your guests’ experiences from start to finish – and you never miss an opportunity to delight people.

You’re a bold and creative facilitator.
You may have taught before – or perhaps you’ve worked in adult education, theatre or organizational development. Regardless, you’ve been in front of a group people many times before and you can lead discussions, chair meetings and impart ideas with ease. You’re developing a toolkit of facilitation methods – and are hungry to pick up more.

You’re a sensitive and thoughtful relationship-builder.
You may not have coached people before but you have the raw skills – and you know that deep, non-judgemental listening is the foundation of all good relationships.

You’re insatiably curious about how people learn and grow.
Personal development is something that you’re actively engaged in yourself and you love to read around the topic, listen to podcasts and watch talks. You get a thrill from opening others’ minds and helping them achieve their own goals.

You care passionately about social issues.
Your friends have probably all heard your views on social problems like the housing crisis, elderly isolation and social immobility – and you’re always up to date with current affairs.

You’re not afraid of working hard in pursuit of a big vision.
You love a challenge, and will work tirelessly in pursuit of our vision of a better society.

• £26,000 – £31,000 – depending on experience.
