Job Details

Programme Officer, Child Friendly Cities and Communities

Circa £35,000 per annum

Permanent

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

The Child Friendly Cities and Communities programme brings Unicef UK together with Local Government and other institutions to put children’s rights at the heart of communities and public services in the UK. The programme is part of Unicef’s global Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI), and aims to create local systems and services that are child-centred, rights-based and responsive to the voices and experiences of children and young people.

As Programme Officer, you will support local authorities, and other organisations, by devising and delivering child rights training and facilitating effective planning sessions.   You will provide credible guidance and oversight during the implementation of programme projects and activities, and you will undertake some research to support and inform programme development.

To succeed in this role, you will have substantial experience of working on social change programmes within the public or charity sector. You are an excellent trainer/facilitator and are able to both lead and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including children and young people. You are knowledgeable about the issues facing children in the UK, and are keen to play an instrumental role in securing social justice for all of the UK’s children and young people, particularly the most vulnerable.

Act now and visit www.unicef.org.uk/jobs to apply online.

Closing date: 5pm, Friday 27 July 2018.

Interview date: Tuesday 7 August 2018.

This role is currently based in Farringdon.  From late August 2018, Unicef UK will relocate to Stratford (zone 2).  Our new offices will be close to the new Crossrail station and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Stratford is also served by the Jubilee and Central Lines, DLR, London Overground, TFL Rail and National Rail services.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people, respecting and drawing on different perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a criminal records check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights. CVs will not be accepted.

If you require support in completing the online form or an application form in an alternative format, please contact Supporter Care on 0300 330 5580 during office hours.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
