Position: Dementia Support Manager
Location: Wellington, Shropshire

About the role:

They are seeking a DSM covering Telford and Wrekin, at 35 hrs per week. Due to the geographic spread of the service provision the ability to travel independently would be preferable.   About you:
You will be an experienced manager who can lead a diverse team, both motivating and inspiring your team, as well as managing the day to day service.
This includes managing referrals to the team, liaising with other agencies, and ensuring that the service delivered is timely and that the quality of information, support and guidance provided is to an exceptionally high standard.
Additionally, you will hold your own caseload of people with dementia and their carers.
This service is provided in a range of settings, including the clients home. To ensure service users continue to live as they want to within their community you will also work with volunteers who are supporting local communities to be ‘dementia friendly’.
You will be joining an expanding team to lead their locally branded Dementia Companions and Dementia Support Worker who provide support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends. You will be part of their exciting and new ways of working closely with GP practices and Memory service to improve the current journey of people affected by dementia.   This service will be person centred as it will be led by conversations with clients as part of their own Living well Plan. We are looking for people who can support creative solutions within this challenging work stream as the Alzheimer’s Society delivers on its current Five Year Strategy.

You will need excellent communication skills and an understanding of person centered approach to the needs of people with dementia and possess a relevant NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). In addition, you will need an understanding of the inclusion agenda and its relevance within a diverse society.
This role requires regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT would be desirable, as we keep exemplary data records of their service users, and as a manager you will need to run frequent reports to assist in quality control.
An ability to travel independently around the area is essential as you will be working in a range of community settings. Experience of working with volunteers will be an advantage. Due to the nature of this post, a satisfactory disclosure from Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed.
Their employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. They are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely. All contributing to a strong work life balance.
They also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with them.
Our client is committed to equal opportunities.

You may have experience of the following: Support Manager, Support Worker, Senior Support Worker, Social Care, Dementia, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, Social Worker, Community Care, Not For Profit, Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker, Vulnerable People, Voluntary Sector, Care Assistant etc.
