Volunteering Officer

Be part of the movement for change: Unite with us against dementia

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

Position: Volunteering Officer
Location: London
Contract type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: £23,604 per annum

Closing date: Thursday 26 July
Interview date: Thursday 9 August

About the role:

As Volunteering Officer you’ll be responsible for all aspects of volunteering across North London. This will involve coordinating recruitment, enabling volunteer role managers to support their volunteers, and working with local management teams to do more for people living with dementia, through volunteers.

Volunteering is a vital part of Alzheimer’s Society’s bold new strategy, The New Deal on Dementia. By 2022 we will offer support to every person with a diagnosis of dementia, build an international network of dementia research, and lead change to make society more supportive of people affected by dementia. None of this will be possible without a team of talented and motivated volunteers, and we need your expertise to develop and build this team.

About you:

You’ll be enthusiastic about being part of a growing movement, which means you’ll be experienced in working in a public-facing role, used to meeting tight deadlines, and able to organise information effectively. You’ll be given the freedom to innovate in order to meet business objectives, so you’ll be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems, build relationships, and find new ways to recruit volunteers (especially from harder to reach communities). This role will offer the opportunity to develop your leadership skills in that you’ll be achieving results through others – as such you’ll be able to demonstrate that you are persuasive, diplomatic, and able to tailor your communications according to the situation.

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for agile working - all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer’s Society is committed to equal opportunities.

You may have experience of the following: Volunteering Officer, Volunteer Manager, Senior Volunteer Officer, Volunteer Management, Volunteer Recruitment, Charity, Not for Profit, Third Sector, etc
