About the role:
A permanent opportunity for an experienced adviser has arisen within the Policy Services department.
In this exciting role, you will protect and further members' interests by developing policies in relation to flood and coastal erosion risk management and public access that are sympathetic to agriculture and to that end.
You will seek to maximise our client's influence in the European Community and with UK government departments, statutory agencies and non-governmental organisations, who are involved in flood and coastal erosion risk management and public access (including rights of way) policy formulation and implementation.
This role will be predominantly office-based with a minimum of 2 days at HQ, the remainder of the week within a regional office. There will be some national travel for our client business and a requirement to travel to meetings in London.
About you:
Our client is looking for a Flood Management and Access Policy Adviser to manage their policy work in these areas. To be successful in this role you will need to manage a varied workload within this fast-paced role, and have the ability to multi-task. You will need to be an influential individual who has the ability to take charge and show initiative.
You should enjoy working with people, and be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving successful outcomes in discussions and negotiations, whilst maintaining good working relationships.
You will be able to synthesise and communicate technical and complex information, sometimes on politically sensitive or emotionally charged issues and ideal candidate will need to have the ability to communicate at all levels.
In this unique role you will have a dual function from working on flood management to access issues, therefore, a background advising in both or either of these areas would be a significant advantage. A qualification in geography or environmental science, or having an understanding of the farming industry and the associated environmental agenda would be a distinct advantage.
You may have experience of the following: Advisor, County Advisor, Flood Advisor, Flood Management Advisor, Flood Management, Flood Manager, Access Policy Advisor, Policy Advisor, Access Policy, etc.
