Job Details

  • Working with the Head of Communications, develop and deliver an overarching PR strategy, guiding the media team to provide a high quality service for journalists and deliver against annual and quarterly KPIs

  • Lead the media team to increase understanding of the cause and impact on people's lives. Maximise proactive and reactive news opportunities, to get engaging stories into media channels that raise our profile and increase our influence.

  • Provide expertise in targeting audiences and ensure the charity's strategic objectives are delivered through appropriate media channels at national, regional and local level, with activity encompassing social media and online channels alongside traditional media.

  • Ensure an 'always on' approach with the media team to all potential media opportunities, recognising and setting the example of swift, timely and accurate responses to appropriate media opportunities. Deliver crisis communications where necessary, with the support of Head of Communications.

  • Put our supporters at the heart of our work: building relationships with new and existing media volunteers, offering coaching and briefings and attending interviews where appropriate.

  • Support the Senior Press Officers to plan and execute engaging, creative and ambitious PR campaigns and deliver consistently strong results, with targets met or exceeded. Draw on knowledge of colleagues across the charity to identify compelling angles, statistics and case study stories.

  • Plan, film and edit compelling video content to support communications campaigns and support the Senior Press Officers to develop their skills in this area. Work with the Brand and Design Manager and Digital team to develop other multimedia campaign assets as required, to agreed deadlines.
