Unique opportunity to lead ground breaking development and delivery of a comprehensive range of wellbeing-focussed services in a primary local Age UK operation.

Age UK is the country's largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life and comprises around 150 local Age UK’s. Age UK Islington (AUKI), founded in 1963, is one of Age UK’s most innovative operations. There are c40 staff and 100+ volunteers. Annual turnover is c£1.6M.

AUKI’s business model consists of a core charity service, augmented by a range of professional services related to Prevention focused service design and delivery, with a particular emphasis on Outcomes approaches and related capture and use of data. The organisation is an active contributor to the development, piloting and mainstreaming of new service approaches in the area, including social prescribing.

AUKI’s service operations range across care navigation, enablement, guided choices, wellbeing screening and population based information provision.  All services sit on a shared case management and communications platform, ensuring a consistent and tailored service response for users, and with close integration with our partners across health and social care.

We are currently looking for a senior leader of the highest calibre to become Operations Director of AUKI.

The successful applicant will provide strategic and operational leadership to champion the next stage of services development, manage key staff, lead the design and implementation of operational and ‘clinical’ governance policies, systems and processes in line with best practice and emerging ‘whole system’, user and regulatory requirements and play a key role in the wider leadership team.

If you are up for this challenge, you will be able to demonstrate outstanding operational management experience and a strong understanding of key current issues in the health and social care sector.  You will also have experience in service and operations design, financial budgeting, cost management and team leadership experience.

We are looking for a results-driven individual, with a “can do” attitude, able to work calmly under pressure and willing to take responsibility.  Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and organisational skills are essential as are influencing, relationship building and communication skills.
