Volunteer Coordinator
Our client supports people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, they are a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected.
Position: Volunteer Coordinator
Location: Doncaster requirement to travel across the county and nearby
Job Type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 15 hours per week
Salary: £21,000 to £25,700 per annum pro rata over 2 days a week
Closing date: 20th July 2018
About the role:
The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train and provide high quality support to volunteers (including peer volunteers) who will be working with people with lived experience of disability and / or mental ill health across the contract areas.
You will develop appropriate volunteer opportunities that meet the needs of the service, the people who access the service and those who want to volunteer.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, provide high quality support to a team of volunteer advocates
- Identify volunteering opportunities appropriate to the service and to meet the needs of people accessing the service and recruit volunteers to these roles
- Work with people hoping to volunteer to identify their skills and experiences and develop appropriate opportunities to utilize these
- Make appropriate volunteer advocate / client matches and monitor their progress
- Provide induction and ongoing training to volunteers
- Ensure volunteers have appropriate information systems available to support their work
- Continually develop volunteering opportunities within the service
- Develop appropriate recording mechanisms, maintain up to date records on all aspects of activity and continually monitor the progress of volunteer’s work
- Act as the first point of contact for all volunteers working with the organisation in Doncaster
- Develop additional volunteer procedures as appropriate to the service
- Work with people with lived experience to help shape, develop and deliver the service
- Ensure your own work adheres to organisation's policies and procedures
- Participate and contribute fully to organisational meetings and conferences including team meetings
Essential Skills / Experiences:
- Experience of working with volunteers, recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
- Experience of developing volunteering roles
- Third Sector
- Understanding of volunteering
- Excellent communication skills
- Full Driving License
Desirable Skills / Experiences:
- Experience of working within the health or social care sectors
- Experience of planning and delivering training programmes
- Experience of developing volunteer policies and practice
- Experience of project delivery
- An understanding of the issues affecting adult social care / mental health service users
- IT skills
