Job Details

Our client is looking for a confident, capable and enthusiastic team player, who is passionate about youth social action and youth voice, to join their team.

Young people have the energy, ideas and capacity to address society’s challenges. When they take part in social action everyone benefits. They do – because they develop their skills and their characters – and communities do – because they are healthier, more integrated and socially mobile. This is what they call the ‘double benefit’.

The vision of the #iwill campaign is to make this kind of meaningful social action a part of life for 10 to 20 year olds across the UK – and where possible to encourage starting earlier. Examples include caring for someone in the community, providing peer support online, volunteering for a charity or campaigning or fundraising for an important cause.

Over 850 organisations from across multiple sectors make up the #iwill campaign, which was launched by HRH The Prince of Wales with cross-party support in 2013.

They are the charity that coordinates the #iwill campaign by connecting its partners, communicating the impact of quality youth social action and challenging the collective to do more.

They want a highly motivated person to join their team to help them enable more young people, wherever they live and whatever their background, to become more active citizens today and in the future.

Job summary:

The Communications Officer will report to the Director of Communications and will support the Communications team, and their wider team, to ensure youth voice is further incorporated into campaign activity.

This will include: empowering young people to shape the #iwill campaign narrative and voice their own experiences of social action, effective and consistent care of the growing #iwill Ambassador pool; and playing a wider team-support role, at times working directly with the Operations Manager.

Main responsibilities:

• Ensure youth voice is central to communications activity by working with their team to further incorporate into campaign activity

• Support and deliver the #iwill Ambassador recruitment process that results in 50 new ambassadors from across the UK

• Maintain regular communications with #iwill Ambassadors, providing them with updates and speaking opportunities (briefings where appropriate).

• Securing content from partner organisations and #iwill Ambassadors, focusing on amplifying messages related to youth voice where possible

• Contribute to the organisation of the campaign’s annual celebration week each November, marked by #iwillWeek, which includes advance communications planning, facilitating partner-led events, and unveiling the newest cohort of #iwill Ambassadors at an event

• Act as liaison to Youth Advisors and Forum members who have been invited to join #iwill campaign steering groups

• Ensure there is updated bank of case studies and stories available

• Working with the Senior Communications Officer to maintain the iwill.org.uk website, ensuring accurate and engaging content

• Support the Operations Manager with projects and administration that have an organisation-wide impact
