Fundraising Manager
Our client’s mission is to improve the welfare of working animals in the world’s poorest communities. They do this through treatment, training and teaching. They TREAT by providing free veterinary care when animals suffer or when emergencies strike. They TRAIN by building expertise among vets and promoting humane care by animal owners. They TEACH children to develop positive beliefs, respect and compassion towards animals.
Position: Supporter Engagement Manager
Location: 14 John Street, London
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 34.5 hours a week. Standard hours are 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am-4.30pm Fridays, although these will be varied within the Supporter Care team in order to provide office cover from 8.30am-6.00pm.
Salary: £36k per annum
Benefits: 22 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays, plus three additional days to be taken over the Christmas period when the office is closed. Further days of leave will be earned after two years of service – see the employment handbook for details.
Responsibilities:
- Create and ensure the maintenance of supporter engagement process documents and training guides
- Manage the ongoing updates to our clients FAQs, standard enquiry responses and thank you letters to be used by the team
- Deliver exceptional donor care at all times to be measured by supporter surveys
- Ensure feedback from supporters is recorded and report on this in order to help improve responses and fundraising appeals
- Manage the use of external suppliers of out-of-work-hours call handling when required by the charity
- Provide cover for the main switchboard, front door and incoming / outgoing post when there are absences in the team
- Manage the development and delivery of our client’s community fundraising programme, including their current products World Tea Party and Big Knit
- Meet or exceed the annual events and community fundraising income target whilst controlling relevant expenditure
- Develop relationships with community groups across the UK
- Oversee the management of fundraising activities and challenge events
- Develop a program of exciting and supporter centric fundraising opportunities
- Represent our client at local events and in media opportunities
- Ensure all community fundraisers and volunteers have an excellent experience in every interaction with our client to be measured by supporter and event participant surveys
- Manage the development of community fundraising marketing materials, working with external suppliers and internal stakeholders as necessary
- Manage the Supporter Engagement team, motivating and developing team members to deliver on objectives and targets
- Report regularly on the performance of the Supporter Engagement team, compiling KPI figures
- Manage the workflow of the Supporter Engagement team ensuring all daily tasks are covered at all times and all team members have a manageable workload
Essential Skills / Experiences:
- Demonstrable experience of exceeding customer service KPI’s and fundraising targets in relation to community fundraising and events
- Experience of resolving complaints with sensitivity and tact
- Excellent computer skills with strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc
- Database experience, with preference of Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising relationship database
- A confident communicator at all levels with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings when required due to events and community activities
Desirable Skills / Experience:
- Previous experience of working at a management level in a fundraising capacity
- Experience of managing and developing staff
- Experience of managing external suppliers of supporter care and handling out-of-hours enquiries
- Knowledge of different fundraising methods
- Understanding of charity governance and law as it applies to fundraising
- Willingness to travel overseas
