College Support Worker (Young People) 

Position: College Support Worker 
Location: Colleges within Berkshire 
Salary: £15,000 - £18,500 per annum (depending on skills, experience and qualifications) 
Hours: 37.5hrs per week, usually between 0800hrs to 1600hrs however flexibility is required. Monday to Friday (term time only) 

About the Role: 

As a College Support Worker you will join a team offering college support for males aged between 16-18 years who have difficulties related to attachment and developmental trauma, and who have perpetrated harmful sexual behaviour. 

The aim is to ensure the physical, social, psychological and emotional care and development of the young people whilst in further education. 

Responsibilities: 

• To supervise an allocated young person within the classroom, practical session or work experience setting. 
• To support the young person to maintain safe and appropriate relationships within the college/ work experience environment (either via direct supervision or through encouraging discussion – as directed by the Home Manager and College Safeguarding Team). 
• To supervise the young person travelling to and from college/ work experience as required. 
• To support the young person to complete homework/ course work on days off or during study time. 
• To take an interest in all aspects of the young person’s life and well-being; and to ensure, with guidance from the Home Manager, that individualised needs are met. 
• To work alongside the Home Manager to monitor risks and safety plans; and to contribute to report writing for the young person. 
• To follow and promote the ethos of openness and equal communication in everyday working. 
• To recognise, respond, record, and refer any safeguarding concerns (in line with our client Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy). 

Essential skills/ experience: 

• Previous experience of working with children/ young people. 
• Able to work flexible hours in response to the needs of the young people. 
• Willing and able to study for Diploma 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People).
