Recovery Support Worker (Mental Health) 

Our client provides care, support and housing in London for people who may be homeless, have a learning disability or a mental health need. Their aim is to provide a safe and secure environment to help people recover and maximise their potential. Our client services place people at the heart of their communities and help them to develop the skills to live independent lives in the way they choose. Our client works with local people in an environment that promotes and embraces diversity and the differences that make people individuals. 

Their customers have often had previous experiences of disadvantage, prejudice and discrimination. They ensure that they work with everyone in a way that respects and promotes choice, privacy and dignity. 

Position: Recovery Support Worker (Mental Health) 
Location: Brentford, London 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 40 hours per week (actual hours depend on the requirements of the service and the 24 hour shift pattern applicable to the post, including sleepovers, weekends and anti-social hours) 
Salary: up to £25,000 per annum 
Benefits: 25 annual leave days, plus bank holidays, pension scheme.

About the Role: 

The Recovery Support Worker will participate in carrying out service response, working with specialist support skills, as part of a team providing an environment where people with complex and challenging needs are encouraged to live as independently as possible, using the assertive model of engagement, recovery-focused approach and individually tailored recovery plans to form the basis for effective interventions. You will support the customers to develop and expand their life skills so that they can lead full and active lives within the community. 

About You: 

The successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification e.g Qualified Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or hold a degree related to health and social care, or equivalent. You will have Significant, successful experience working in a community setting with adults who have complex needs and challenging behaviour, as well as experience of working with people with mental health issues, substance misuse, homelessness and forensic histories. 

You will have the ability to develop and review strategies for customers presenting challenging behaviour and experience of enabling customers to work through crisis situations both at home and out in the community accompanied with experience of engaging with and motivating customers to develop the skills and confidence needed to live as independently as possible. 

It is essential that you have knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, and confidence in safe practice. 

You may have experience of the following: Senior Support Worker, Support Worker, Care Worker, Care Assistant, Social Care, Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Healthcare Assistant, Healthcare Worker, Care Worker, Care Staff, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, NFP, Not for Profit etc.
