In 2017, they rolled out their first Social Impact Bond (SIB) funded travel-training programme and are currently mobilising in two further areas. At this exciting time for the organisation, they are currently looking to recruit an Independent Travel Coordinator to support with the implementation and delivery of their newest programme in Surrey.

As their Community Development Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering their travel training project across Surrey, offering early intervention to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) by providing training, enabling them to use public transport independently and reducing their reliance on specialist door to door transport which ultimately leads to greater inclusion. Reporting to the Independent Travel Manager, you will provide assessment, practical training and advice to young people as well as act as a point of contact to support parents, carers and the local authority and schools. Co-ordinating a dispersed team across the region, you will support with recruitment, safeguarding, and offer supervision and practical support to a specialist team.

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrable experience of working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities as well as having previous involvement in managing and delivering projects to deadline with multiple stakeholders. Due to the nature of the project, the ability to carry out individual and risk assessments is essential as is the capability to lead and supervise staff and/or volunteers. Finally, strong presentation and facilitation skills is essential as is the understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities and the importance of their independence.
