This is an exciting opportunity working directly with their assistance dogs in training!
Our client is an assistance dog charity which transforms the lives of disabled people through partnership with their specially trained assistance dogs. Their assistance dogs are trained to meet the needs of individuals with even the most complex physical disabilities. They help adults who have a physical disability or condition that affects their daily life and limits their independence.
With almost 400 disabled people now living with a fully trained canine in the UK their reach continues to increase.
To help them create these amazing partnerships, they need amazing people. They have an exciting opportunity to join the Training Department as a Dog Welfare Officer, based at their Midlands Training Centre in Osgathorpe, Leicestershire.
Position: Dog Welfare Officer
Location: Osgathorpe, Leicestershire
Contract type: Part Time
Post 1
Hours: 07.30 – 12.30 Tuesday to Friday (20 hours per week)
Salary: £17,438 per annum (pro rata to £9,300.27 for 20 hours per week)
Post 2
Hours: 13.30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday (17.5 hours per week)
Salary: £17,438 per annum (pro rata to £8,137.73 for 17.5 hours per week)

About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join this friendly and welcoming team, working closely with their Trainers and directly with their assistance dogs in training. The role consists of providing and maintaining the welfare needs of young dogs aged between 12 and 18 months during their stay in their onsite kennels whilst they undergo training to become assistance dogs.
This role is physically demanding and involves a lot of kennel cleaning and working outside in all weathers. You will also be required to maintain the high standards of obedience they teach their dogs, and give grooming and health instructions to their partners.
In this interesting and rewarding role you will be responsible for exercising, grooming, feeding and bathing dogs while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in their kennels and ensuring the welfare needs of the dogs are met at all times.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of dog care and welfare issues, the ability to communicate with a wide range of people, good administration and computer skills, excellent attention to detail and be happy working outside in all weathers.
