Job Details

Director of Operations & Finance (Joint Chief Executive Officer)

Our client is the UK’s co-operative children and young people’s movement. Their shared values not only influence the programme they deliver to and with children and young people, but also the way they approach governance, priority setting and operations.

As they head towards their centenary in 2025, they’re recruiting new volunteers, opening their doors in new communities and expanding their small network of outdoor activity centres. Their support systems and infrastructure need an overhaul to meet the needs of an increasingly dispersed staff team supporting over 3,000 volunteers to run over 300 local groups all over the country.

They’re looking for a co-operative, systems-minded individual to lead the transformation of their operational infrastructure and build on almost a century of youth-led governance. You’ll need to be comfortable with complex finances, HR, and IT. You’ll be committed to partnership working inside and outside the organisation and share their commitment to empowering young people, fighting discrimination, engaging with nature and achieving education for social change.

Focusing on their governance, financial systems, HR and other operational infrastructure, the Director of Operations and Finance (Joint Chief Executive) is a new role, developed to reflect the co-operative nature of them. Working closely with the Director of Development (Joint Chief Executive) and their engaged Trustees, you will update, develop and maintain the infrastructure which supports their volunteers and young members to deliver their charitable objects.

Primarily based in their South London head office, with the opportunity for some remote working, the role requires significant weekend (once a month) and evening working (most phone conferences) and occasional UK travel. The majority of travel and flexible working is scheduled in advance and will be managed to meet balance your other commitments. No overtime is paid but expenses will be reimbursed and time off in lieu given accordingly. They aim for their staff to reflect the diversity of the communities they serve and welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

The role is offered up to full time (35hrs per week), but they would consider part-time or job share for the right candidate.

Salary: £36,909 to £43,045 fte (inc. London weighting)
