Senior Adviser (Countryside) 

Our client is the UK’s largest trade association, representing farmers and growers across England and Wales and is regarded as one of the most effective lobbying organisations in Europe, negotiating with governments and pressure groups at a local, national, European and international level. 

Position: Senior Countryside Adviser 
Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire (commutable from Coventry, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and most areas across the West Midlands) 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Salary: circa £36,562 per annum

About the role: 

How would you like to help farmers in England to deliver in a challenging economic and political environment? Our client is looking for a Senior Countryside Adviser to lead our client’s thinking on the development of a future land management scheme in a post-Brexit era, on alternative funding mechanisms such as public / private partnership approaches and on natural capital policy. 

You will initiate and manage initiatives that will protect and further their members’ interests and, as a result of this work, be able to make policy recommendations to our client’s internal decision-making bodies. 

In addition, you will work in conjunction with government departments and agencies, HQ staff, regional colleagues, key stakeholders and other influencers. You will help ensure that our client policies and successes are explained and promoted through the media. 

About you: 

You will need to demonstrate an excellent standard of written and verbal communication along with proven negotiation and interpersonal skills. You will have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the issues within the portfolio. 

A comprehensive understanding of agri-environment schemes and experience of liaising with government officials, statutory bodies, key stakeholder groups are key requirements and experience of providing support to farmers and growers on these issues is essential. An understanding of natural capital policy would be advantageous. 

You may have experience of the following: Policy Adviser, Membership Association, Farming, Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Surveying, Surveyor, Membership Adviser, Stakeholder Management, Legislation, Member Adviser, Lobbying, Farmer etc.
