Job Details

A leading and award-winning Animal charity based in North London is seeking a skilled Finance Officer.

The role represents a chance to work for a progressive and forward-thinking organisation, with state of the art offices in North London, along with a growing international presence.

The role will involve:

-Administer the purchase ledger for the charity and its group of companies, ensuring that all expenditure is promptly processed accurately, and in compliance with the organisation's financial protocols and procedures.

-Hold responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the sales ledger for the charity and its group of companies; ensuring that all sales income is accurately processed in compliance with the organisation's financial protocols and procedures.

-In close cooperation with colleagues in the Fundraising & Development Team, process all voluntary donations; reconciling receipts to the banking ledger within the accounts system accurately and in a timely fashion.

-Undertake the organisation's bank reconciliation process for all accounts and card ledgers; ensuring that all statements are checked and reconciled to the system in an accurate and timely fashion.

-Assist the Finance Manager with month end close procedures by undertaking accounting journals to reconcile the organisation's sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking ledgers, and inter-company transactions.

-Assist the Finance Manager and the broader Finance Team in the preparation and delivery of the annual audit process and help in the preparation of full year financial accounts.

-Assist with budget setting processes as required and input budget information into SAP.

Requirements:

-Ideally part-qualified ACCA / CIMA or fully AAT qualified

-Prior experience in the charitable sector is a strong advantage

-Excellent track record in a similar accounting role; with a hands-on approach to the management and administration of sales, purchase and banking ledgers.

-Proven technical experience and ability in the preparation of supporting documentation for balance sheet items such as fixed assets, prepayments, petty cash and accruals.

-Ability to reliably undertake Bank and monthly reconciliations and journal posting.

-Experience supporting the production of management accounts and management information is strongly desirable

-Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office365, and particularly Excel for which you must be an advanced user.

-Proven experience of maintaining finance-based administrative systems, including paper and electronic filing.

An empathy with animal rights and associated issues would be desirable for this role.
