Our amazing children’s hospice in Oxford relies on public support to fund its work and we need a Community Fundraising Manager to cover our North East region which includes Buckinghamshire, parts of Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes.  You will be responsible for creating and sustaining long term committed partnerships with individual and groups of supporters who are fundraising in aid of Helen & Douglas House.  We are looking for a confident and well organised individual with great relationship building and communication skills to work with supporters and also cross functionally across the wider Fundraising team to raise vital funds to care for terminally ill children.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing relationships with established community groups and developing new ones.
  • Forging new relationships in the community including regional businesses and guiding their fundraising activity according to legislation and good practice.
  • Working cross functionally with colleagues across the hospice to develop committed fundraising relationships.
  • Promoting fundraising activity in the community including events and fundraising products including legacy giving.
  • Working with our existing volunteers to develop fundraising in the community.
  • Achieving stretching income targets in a new Community and Events Fundraising Team

You will need:

  • Relationship management skills: be able to develop relationships with different audiences, influence and guide the fundraising activity of others.
  • Business acumen: be able to identify income generating opportunities, manage a budget, forecast and plan contingency action to achieve stretching financial targets.
  • Networking skills: be able to represent the charity, demonstrate the impact we have locally, build connections and introduce supporters for the benefit of HDH. Host supporters visiting our regional centre of excellence in palliative care in Oxford and work closely with other outreach teams in the community.
  • Creativity: be able to promote and develop ideas in line with the charity’s brand and inspire supporters in the community to support HDH.
  • In addition you will be able to proactively plan and manage a varied and busy workload involving travel and some out of hours working.
