Head of International Finance

For the past 50 years Amnesty International (AI) has brought people together to fight for human rights. To reach its growth ambitions and effectively campaign for human rights in a shifting landscape, Amnesty International requires strong financial leadership across its global movement. We are looking for a driven and energetic finance professional, based in our International Secretariat office in London, to lead the international finance function and drive excellent financial decision making across AI’s 70 national entities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in London you will head a team of seven to deliver the International Secretariat’s international finance vision.

This includes leading our global financial reporting process, developing and delivering ambitious training and assurance plans and being a strategic business partner to our fundraising and strategy teams in order to grow the organization’s impact and income through the management of the IS income budget and grants to national entities. You will also identify and lead strategic finance change initiatives to optimise financial management across the movement.

Ultimately, this role aims to achieve excellent finance practices across the global Amnesty International movement, to improve financial decision making, maximise value for money in our work and enable human rights change.

ABOUT YOU

You will be CCAB qualified (or international equivalent) with a degree (2:1 or above) coupled with extensive post qualification experience. 

You will have an impressive track record of results, possess strong change and project management experience in addition to experience of managing and leading staff. You will have strong financial accounting and control experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a capacity to influence people across seniority levels, functions and countries.

You will have excellent English language skills and ideally speak another language (French or Spanish), and have a fine understanding of cross-cultural differences. You will finally be competent with Microsoft office, have advanced Excel skills and knowledge and experience of finance systems.
