Core Purpose:

As a key member of the Fundraising Team, you will bring fresh energy into our events programme, research, devise and manage new events that will appeal to our audience and help us achieve agreed financial targets. 

In this position we are looking for a person with a strong strategic approach, strong marketing experience, drive and enthusiasm.   

Responsibilities:

Strategy development

  • Overall responsibility for developing and implementing the events strategy to include researching, planning and marketing, managing on the day activities and post event assessments

Marketing

  • Lead on developing successful and innovative marketing campaigns for our events, working with colleagues in the team across the charity and the hospice
  • Ensure our website is kept up to date with all events and participants can easily register interest on-line

Income and Budget

  • Working with the Head of Fundraising & Communications, plan and develop annual budgets for events
  • Increase net income in line with the Fundraising Plan
  • Identify new opportunities to increase income from Events
  • Manage the income and expenditure budget, forecasting any business plans for the Events area

Management and Development

  • Be responsible for achieving the overall challenge event KPIs
  • Lead the implementation of the supporter journey for events participants, working with the Individual Giving and Database Manager
  • Keep up to date with codes of conduct and best practice and apply these to Sobell House’s events

New Business and External Relationships

  • Working with the Corporate Partnerships Manager, develop new business sponsorship opportunities for events
  • Lead on increasing the size of our events database

Analysis and Learning

  • Use insights and sector trends to make decisions on the events programme
  • Evaluate, gain feedback and use learnings to develop the strategy for events in the future
  • Increase registrations in both own place and bonded places for events in line with budget
  • Increase the conversion rate from enquiry to registration to participation
  • Liaise with colleagues in the Team to increase participation

Person Attributes:

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong marketing experience including digital marketing
  • Ability to plan, develop and achieve results from new events
  • Able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and oral
  • Proven experience of budget management and delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively and appropriately to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders
  • A self-starter who is able to use their own initiative

Leadership and Management

  • Proven experience of supervising and motivating people
  • Experience of managing teams of volunteers at challenge events

Personal Qualities

  • Drive and enthusiasm, a can-do-attitude
  • Flexibility to be available to work evening and weekends
  • Ability to represent Sobell House professionally at all times
  • Hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle
  • Attention to detail
  • Have a personal commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities
