The mission of the Economic Advancement Program (EAP) will be to increase economic opportunity for the marginalized in ways that promote inclusive, open and prosperous societies. The Economic Advancement Program deploys investments, grants, economic policy advice, and builds stakeholder coalitions to influence the exercise of economic power. Core strategic themes of the EAP will include:
-Transforming agricultural economic systems to empower smallholder farmers
-Advancing economic agency for migrants, refugees, and host communities
-Supporting economic opportunity for women to advance social justice
-Leveraging moments of national transition

 

We will pursue these themes through two portfolios:
1.Empowering smallholders to more effectively invest in their own futures
2.Amplifying participation, rights and voices of smallholders around major agricultural investments

Working closely alongside the investment, policy and engagement teams, this is a senior role that holds ultimate accountability for the strategy and development of the grants portfolio with significant delegated authority for decision making, monitoring impact and shaping ongoing theory of change models.

We seek an experienced agriculture or rural development specialist who is passionate about the economic advancement of vulnerable economic actors. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the agriculture landscape, including how civil society actors are engaging the private sector and Government to empower women and men smallholder farmers. The role will work globally, focused on change in Sub-Saharan Africa.
