The future looks bright for Marks Hall Estate. Due to a recent land sale and a change to the senior management structure, investment is now in place for a creative and innovative strategist to be appointed as its new Executive Director. The post-holder will be responsible for initiating and implementing an investment plan for the future of the Charity, notably, overseeing the strategy for significant growth in visitor numbers as part of an ambitious 10-year plan.

Marks Hall Estate is a striking heritage landscape that extends to over 2,300 acres of Essex countryside. It includes tenanted farm holdings, residential and commercial property, broadleaved woodlands of high nature conservation value, an 18th Century Coach House event venue and at its heart an Arboretum in which one can find a beautifully-landscaped walled garden and other hidden treasures. 

Reporting to the Board of Trustees and managing a team of over 20, the Executive Director will create an engaging and informative visitor experience, oversee an extensive volunteer programme, and develop external support and awareness of the Estate’s works. S/he will deliver a strategy to improve overall financial performance and identify new opportunities for income generation at Marks Hall, to enable its growth and profitability as a visitor at-traction, and as an educational resource and centre for scientific research.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering targets, managing a multi-disciplinary team, and project and event management experience, preferably in the heritage/visitor attractions' sector.
