Director of Finance & Corporate Services
Raleigh International - Director of Finance & Corporate Services
Location: Westminster, London
Salary: 65,000 - 70,000 full time
Who are Raleigh International?
Raleigh International is a sustainable development charity. They focus on working for and with youth to inspire and make positive change in four areas: youth in civil society, providing access to safe water and sanitation, protecting vulnerable environments and building livelihoods and enterprises.
Their way of working to achieve impact is by engaging young volunteers through delivery programmes: Raleigh Expedition, International Citizen Service (ICS), a UK government-funded development programme, and national youth programmes where they work solely with local youth volunteers in-country.
By working through youth, the charity develops young leaders and ensures young people are connected, valued partners in development.
How does the Director of Finance & Corporate Services contribute to the charity?
The Director of Finance & Corporate Services role represents a unique opportunity to shape the work of Raleigh International, focusing specifically on the financial leadership and contribution to the broader organisational management of the charity. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the charity's senior management team, playing a fundamental role in ensuring the financial planning, management and reporting is carried out effectively.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a senior financial management role for an international development charity or not for profit organisation. You will have evidence of achieving financial objectives and a strong background in developing financial systems and processes including external statutory reporting and audit. You will have experience of being a Company Secretary for a charitable company registered in the UK and with oversight of governance in other jurisdictions.
Due to the breadth and complexity of this role, the successful candidate will need to have confidence in juggling competing demands, with humour and resilience. You will be fully supported by the chief executive as well as a dedicated Finance & Risk sub-committee which includes two alumni of Raleigh International's programme.
You will be professionally qualified at CCAB level with strong technical accounting skills and an excellent understanding of restricted funding for projects and overseas accounting for operations in foreign currencies. Naturally you'll be self-motivated with an analytical mind, combined with great interpersonal skills and the confidence to maintain robust financial controls.
While finance is an essential part of this role, it is much broader than that in terms of the day-to-day work, therefore no two days will be the same. Raleigh International are an organisation driven by their values of Courage, Discovery, Impact, Integrity and Drive building a culture which is collaborative as is its leadership team.
